What we believe

Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
I will with God’s help.

I

Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  God is love, and God’s very being is a trinity of living relationship.  In Christ, God invites us to share that love; wherever there is pain or alienation, God wants to be with us and with all creation in wholeness and relationship.  We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world.

All people belong to God and belong in The Episcopal Church.  Together we remember and share God’s love for every person.  Women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church.  Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church.  Leadership is a gift from God and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of gender expression or sexual orientation.

The Baptismal Covenant, on page 304 in the Book of Common Prayer, captures our beliefs and how we live them out.

Would you like to explore your faith with us?  We’re developing a course that explores the Christian faith primarily for those who’re exploring for the first time or after a long absence.  More information is forthcoming. If you are interested in learning more, use the form below to contact us.
